Who do you coach?
I work with individuals and groups who have a strong desire to change, who are ready to move forward to a new level of physical, emotional, and mental health, and who are ready to step into an empowered role in their own well-being.
Who do you not work with?
If you are suffering from a medical condition or mental illness, it is important that you receive the appropriate treatment from a licensed medical doctor or psychologist. Wellness coaching can compliment those treatments, but is not a substitute!
What is Holistic Wellness Coaching?
Holistic wellness coaching recognizes that you are a complex being whose thoughts, feelings, actions, nutrition, social environments, belief systems and spiritual practices all play a role in your health and happiness. Traditional Western Medicine can sometimes disempower individuals by treating them like statistics or broken machines rather than unique individuals with a unique health needs. I'm here to help you reclaim your own agency around wellness and empower you to make positive changes in your lifestyle to create better health and well-being. Whether you want to eat healthier, lose weight and get fit, lower your stress, better manage a painful chronic condition, or just take better care of yourself all around, I will support you in creating meaningful and lasting change.
What is your approach to coaching?
A good coach will both challenge you and support your growth process. We'll clarify your wellness goals, identify obstacles, create strategeies, and take action. As you move forward, I'll be your accountability partner in actually making change. As you come up against success and failure, we'll investigate what happened and revise your strategies and plans. Along the way I offer an empathic ear and a unique series of transformational tools from neuroscience and somatic depth psychology.
Do you take a spiritual or a scientific approach?
I integrate both. I work with the latest neuroscience models for brain change, and also bring to bear a depth psychological approach that honors spiritual perspectives. Whatever your personal beliefs and inclinations, I will respect and work with your world-view.
What is the different between coaching and consulting?
A consultant offers an expert opinion in their field, essentially providing advice and information. Coaching is a process of assisted transformation. Whereas consultants are expected to give advice, coaches prefer to support their clients in finding their own answers and taking action to transform their lives. I may offer consulting services to my coaching clients when they are specifically requested, but I always encourage them to find their own answers first.
What do you consult on?
When requested, some of the topics I offer consultation on include: cultivating mind-body harmony, applied neuroscience, personal growth, working with dreams, communication skills, emotional intelligence, meditation, yoga, diet, nutrition, and fitness.
What are your qualifications for this work?
I am a certified holistic life coach with the Certified Coaches Alliance. I hold a Masters Degree in somatic depth psychology - an emerging field that takes a soulful approach to mind-body healing. In addition, I have many years prior experience in the wellness field as a certified bodyworker and yoga instructor.
What is your scope of practice?
I am not a medical doctor or a licensed psychologist. I am not qualified to diagnose, treat, or cure mental or physical illness or disease. Wellness coaching is not a substitute for professional medical or psychological care. Coaching can be incredibly effective when used as a complement to such care. When working with clients who have chronic pain or illness, I support the client in taking greater agency in their own self-care and self-healing by developing a more holistic relationship to their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Questions About Pricing:
Why do you offer a free 30 minute consultation?
It's important that we have a chance to meet and work together to make sure we're a good fit.
In the session I will learn more about your goals and we will discuss what we can accomplish together. Even if you choose not to pursue coaching at this time, I want you to walk away from our consult with a renewed sense of clarity and empowerment around your health and wellness.
Why do you offer a discount on packages?
Coaching works wonders as on ongoing process of change. Committing to consistent engagement over time is integral to creating lasting results. From a neuroscience perspective, we know that our brains (i.e. our habits and behaviors) can transform - but only with sustained focus over time! Rather than coming and going sporadically, circling your goal in a drawn out process, I would much rather see you succeed quickly and move on to whatever is next!
Why do the coaching packages expire after 7 weeks/1 year?
For the reasons I just mentioned. Especially in the beginning, it is vitally important to address your goals consistently. Meeting less often will diffuse the momentum of our work together and will likely make the coaching less effective. Clients who have already worked with me for a minimum of 12 sessions may request monthly appointments with the basic (4 session) coaching package.
Do you offer a payment plan?
Yes. If paying upfront is not possible, I offer the following options:
The basic package (4 sessions) may be paid in two installments of $150 at the 1st and 3rd session.
The 6 month package (24 sessions) may be paid in three consecutive monthly payments of $520)
What if I purchase the 6 month package and need to cancel? Will I get a refund?
Yes. If either one of us feels that the coaching is not working out, we can absolutely negotiate a refund for unused sessions based on the monthly rate of $75 per session that you completed.
What if I have to reschedule a session?
I have a 12 hour cancellation policy (i.e. the night before).
Same-day cancellations will not be refunded or rescheduled.
Of course exceptions will be made In the rare case of genuine emergency: car accident, sudden serious illness etc...
If you know in advance that you will be traveling for an extended period, just let me know ahead of time and we will work something out.
What is your email policy?
Basic logistical emails are expected in a coaching partnership, and I will sometimes encourage my clients to send me email updates as they accomplish their goals. For addressing deeper concerns, clients can expect one in-depth email response per session, as needed.
I'm broke. Do you offer a sliding scale?
A limited number of sliding scale packages are available for clients who can demonstrate financial need.
